LBG Waste Management: From No Website to Page One in Six Weeks

LBG Waste Management website home page

LBG Waste Management went from a Facebook page with no website to a fully branded online presence: a new domain, professional email, and an SEO-ready website built around how its customers actually search. Within six weeks it ranked in Google's top 10 for six local searches and enquiries were arriving two to three times a week.

The client and the challenge

LBG had a strong local reputation and no website. Iain, the owner, built the business over six years, first in exterior cleaning and then waste management, running his own rounds with a yellow tipper.

On Facebook the business had 455 followers and a 92% recommendation rate from 10 reviews. Customers booked by phone or Facebook message. Anyone searching Google for a bin or a clearance in Bridgend found someone else.

The competition was already online. A nearby skip firm was running a domestic bin round through Maesteg every Wednesday and publishing its prices. National brokers ranked for “wheelie bin hire Bridgend” with no local presence at all. LBG was cheaper and more personal, but invisible to anyone who didn’t already know them.

Research and discovery

We started with what already existed and what the market looked like, before writing a word of copy.

  1. Facebook audit. We reviewed LBG's page for its services, reviews, photos and contact details. The posts showed branded bins outside customers' doors, which gave us real photography and a clear picture of the core service: recurring bin hire, not one-off clearance.

  2. Competitor research. We mapped the waste firms around Bridgend. The local skip companies, man-and-van firms, the council's trade service and national brokers all compete for the same searches. Two gaps stood out: domestic bin hire was barely marketed by anyone, and almost no one explained the Welsh workplace recycling rules that came in on 6 April 2024.

  3. Plain-English discovery checklist. We wrote a list of questions for Iain covering his licence, services, bin sizes, prices, areas and collection days. We then cut it down to what he could answer quickly, without industry or marketing jargon.

  4. Proposal. Iain's answers fed a short proposal covering the build, domain, email and hosting.

Domain name and professional email

We registered lbgwaste.co.uk and set up matching business email for LBG.

The business had been trading as “LBG WASTE Removal” on Facebook and using a personal Gmail address. Iain chose LBG Waste Management as the name to match the lettering on his tipper, so the website, email and van now say the same thing.

A short .co.uk address is easy to say over the phone and to paint on a vehicle. A This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. address looks like an established company on quotes and invoices, which matters when commercial customers are checking who they are signing up with.

The website build

We built a website of service pages, area pages and individual town pages, structured around the searches LBG's customers make and optimised for search engines and AI answer tools from the start.

The homepage leads with “Wheelie Bin Hire and Black Bin Bag Collections in Bridgend and Local Areas” and the message that LBG does the same job as the national firms at a fraction of the price. The copy is written in Iain's voice: plain, local and confident (“We answer the phone. We turn up. We charge fairly. We’re from here.”).

What went into every page:

  • A search-led title and description. Each page targets the phrase people actually type, such as “Skip Hire Bridgend” or “Man and Van Bridgend”, rather than a generic label.

  • LocalBusiness structured data, so Google and AI tools can read who LBG is, where it operates and how to contact it.

  • A “How It Works” section in four short steps, so customers know what happens before they ring.

  • “Questions, Answered”, a set of FAQs on each service page. These are the questions people ask AI assistants, which helps LBG appear in those answers.

  • A clear call to action, ending each page with a booking or enquiry route (“Book a Skip, or Just Ask”).

  • Real proof. Customer reviews brought across from Facebook, the bin sizes (240L, 660L and 1100L) and free delivery shown wherever price is discussed.

Price transparency was a deliberate choice. The about page asks “Why Is Waste Collection So Expensive? It Shouldn’t Be.” and the black bag page gives a price from £2 a bag. Competitors that hide prices lose customers who want a number before they pick up the phone.

Why each website category matters

Each service has its own page because each one is a separate search, made by a different customer at a different moment. One general “services” page cannot rank for skip hire, asbestos and black bags at once.

PageWho it's forWhy it matters
Domestic Bin HireHouseholds whose council bin is always fullIain's priority. Domestic is where the profit is, with smaller bins and lower outgoings. Almost no local competitor markets it properly.
Commercial Bin Hire & Trade WasteShops, salons, offices and sitesBusinesses must use a licensed carrier and keep paperwork. The page speaks to firms paying national prices and offers a local switch.
Black Bag Collection BridgendAnyone with loose bags and no binA one-off job with its own search phrase and a clear price from £2 a bag. It is often a first job that becomes a regular bin.
Skip HireGarden clear-outs, kitchens, renovationsA high-volume search in Bridgend. It puts LBG in front of customers the local skip firms currently own.
Man & Van ClearancePeople who want it loaded for themPriced by the space filled and quoted from photos, which removes the hassle of a site visit.
Recycling CollectionsHomes and businesses separating glass, paper and cardWelsh law has required workplaces to separate recycling since April 2024. Separated loads also keep the customer's price down.
Asbestos Collection & DisposalOwners of old garages, roofs and shedsA specialist, high-trust service handled through a licensed partner. It sets LBG apart from general clearance firms.
What We Can & Cannot TakeEvery customer, before they bookAnswers the most common question honestly and cuts down on contaminated bins and wasted trips.
Areas We CoverCustomers checking LBG serves their streetLists the rounds town by town, from Maesteg out to Bridgend, Pencoed, Porthcawl and the valleys. This is the backbone of the local SEO.
Town pages (Nantyffyllon, Cymmer, Tondu & Aberkenfig and more)Households searching by their own villageEach village on the rounds has its own page. These were the first pages to reach number one on Google.
About UsPeople deciding whether to trust a small firmIntroduces the local firm behind the yellow tipper and states its promise, which national brokers cannot match.

Publishing the collection rounds was also intentional. LBG runs two alternating weekly rounds across the county. Showing them by town proves the business is organised and already working nearby, and each town name is another local search LBG can now be found for.

Every number-one result is a town page, which shows why the area structure matters. The biggest searches are still to win: “bin collection bridgend” (590 searches a month) is at 32, and “skip hire bridgend” (880 a month) is not yet ranking.

Digital House hosts and maintains the site, and the wheelie bin pages are included in our regular SEO checks.
